EH1, is this a generally safe area to live? Niddry St in particular.

I've recently had terrible bother with neighbours in the Duddingston area, thus me and my 1yr old daughter are moving. We are looking at this area and I am just wondering how safe the area is at weekends etc and is it a suitable area for us?

  • I don't know personally, but there are websites which give crime statistics. crimeinmyarea, upmystreet and the police website.

  • Try looking at www.upmystreet.co.uk or www.crimeinmyarea.co.uk this will give you a good idea as it shows the crimes that have taken place, when, where and what has occurred.

  • Pretty grubby street of old tenement housing in a very central site just off the Royal Mile. Probably safe from serious crime but has a very mixed community of students and benefit people. Handy for a quick fix. Put strong locks on the doors. I'd say not at all suitable for a young family.
